Blackdog is a world-class recording facility that offers a wide variety of services and technology, but most importantly, it is a place where musicians, engineers & producers of all styles can come and focus on their creativity in an affordable, relaxed environment.

Blackdog's team of experienced engineer/producers are well-versed in modern Pro Tools, Reason, and Live software, as well as "old school" analog audio technologies. We feature an impressive collection of vintage guitar amplifiers, microphones, mic pre's, and outboard signal processors. Music producing/arranging, voice talent, on-location live recording, and digital video production are additional services that all dwell within the Blackdog house.

Blackdog Recording Studios are located at 120 East Avenue in downtown Rochester's popular East End district (adjacent to the world-renowned Eastman School of Music). It is a 5-room facility totaling 2600 square feet, with free garage parking on all evenings and weekends.

Blackdog now offers a service to totally organize your worldwide digital distribution, online marketing and networking of your original music.

Everything in today's music industry is dependent upon consistent, independent artistic branding and marketing. This means managing your sound, look, outreach, and promotions, in a unified manner across a wide spectrum of digital distribution outlets, and most importantly, reaching out to your fan base on a consistent basis.

If you're looking to get signed to a distribution, management or record deal, you will need to be able to prove that you can brand and market yourself first, as well as provide a recorded history of your sales, so that they know that partnering with you will be a worthwhile venture.

In our experience, very few people make it to that "next level" in the music industry because of a lack of consistent, tireless, self-promotion and branding efforts.

On-Location Recording:

From the concert hall, to the nightclub stage, to the coffee house, to the chapel... or maybe even that wonderful tiled bathroom in your home... Blackdog's ears can be there to capture all the great live magnetic air! Starting with 2-tracks, on to 16 track recordings, and beyond, Blackdog features a wide variety of recording techniques and digital formats, but it's really our two decades of on-location live recording experience that will ensure the listener a front-row experience during playback.

To complement Blackdog Recording Studio's world-class facilities, we now offer video production. Projects range from single-camera audition tapes for musicians, to multi-camera music videos, live concerts, and documentary programs. We use professional Standard & High Definition cameras, and our edit suite is outfitted with Final Cut Studio 2.
